Google states that a sitemap can be useful if your website meets certain criteria, but is not necessary in most cases.

Uploading a sitemap

If you have an XML 'sitemap' that you want to make available to Google (or other search engines) then you should upload it into the top level of your website's files folder. (You can access your site's 'file manager' by logging in to the site as an administrator, then clicking on the 'files' tab.) The file must be named sitemap.xml:

Once you have uploaded the file it will be accessible at www.example.com/uploadedsitemap (replacing example.com with your own club's domain name). This is the URL that you should use when submitting the sitemap to Google:
